· College of Engineering, Pune, is one of the most prestigiouscollege in India. It is the oldest Engineering college in Asia.This institute was granted complete autonomy by the state government in 2004, and was declared a center for excellence in technical education.

LOCATION:
The College is situated on the Mumbai-Pune road and is spread over an area of about 36 acres land. The college enjoys a picturesque frontage on the river Mula near its confluence with the river Mutha, and this has enabled it to run a Boat Club, which is considered to be among the best in India.The hostels, accommodating about 1400 students are situated on a triangular piece of land at a distance of 200 meters from the college. The institute also has a 1000 capacity state of art auditorium for cultural programs.

INFORMATION ABOUT EACH DEPARTMENT:
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING:
This department was established in the year 1912. Today, Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral degree courses are offered. It has a reputation for producing eminent engineers and many of its alumni are occupying key positions in industries and institutions in India and abroad
METALLURGICAL & MATERIAL SCIENCE ENGINEERING:
The department is a unique establishment in educating students as Materials Engineers. Day by day, the demand of this skilled human resource in the industry is rising sharply due to the globalization of Indian economy. The department strives hard in fulfilling these requirements. The active support of eminent members of alumni in India and abroad - ranging from research scientists in developing computer chips to the managing directors - has helped the department in training the students in state of the art technology. There is an intake of 60 students for B.Tech. course. Additional six students are admitted through Diploma stream. From these students, ten may opt for Sandwich course. There are two specializations of 18 seats each at M.Tech. level, namely Process Metallurgy and Physical Metallurgy.
PRODUCTION ENGINEERING:
As a pillar of high-technology industrial society, the department of Production Engineering aims to produce an elite workforce of future leaders trained in the core areas of Design and Manufacturing. To educate professional engineers with flexibility, diversity and expertise demanded by modern knowledge-oriented industry, the department utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and educational material. High-quality practical and theoretical courses are being taught and research continues via a wide range of interdisciplinary academic activities supported by experimental and computational facilities.
COMPUTER & IT ENGINEERING:
The Computer Engineering and Information Technology is one of the youngest department in the institute. The under graduate course in Computer Engineering was started in 1992 with the intake of 40 and the said intake capacity was increased to 60 since 2000 to cater the increased demand. There is also timely introduction of postgraduate course in Computer Engineering since 1997 with the intake of 18. Subsequently the undergraduate course in Information Technology is started from 2000 with the intake of 60.
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING:
This Department has excellent team of experienced, qualified faculty and non-teaching staff. Electrical engineers produced by this department have contributed to industrial development over the last 75 years at national and international level. Department has a good liason with industry. It presently has well equipped laboratories and excellent computational facilities. World class software are available in the department to work on top-of-the line projects in various areas of electrical engineering. The Department also has excellent testing facilities in the area of high voltage engineering and testing of rotating machines.
ELECTRONICS & TELECOMMUNICATION :
This department has always remained in the forefront in producing quality engineers/technocrats who brought laurels to the department and institute. Department has excellent infrastructure facilities and resources in the form of modern equipment, faculty, library & references which always prove useful to our UG and PG students and to other technical institutes or industries in and around. Department has maintained a rapport with the industries and R & D organizations. The department plays a pivotal role in laying down road maps in the area like Signal Processing, Communication, Machine Vision and Microelectronics. Students seeking admissions to department are toppers, among cream of the society and prove to be the main source of satisfaction to teachers.
CIVIL ENGINEERING:
Department of Civil Engineering has it’s distinction of being the first and the oldest department in this institute and has set up a great tradition of producing eminent engineers who are competent and committed to the high professional standards in the field of engineering and technology. During these years this department has produced quite a few outstanding engineers and technologists. WE are proud to have alumni such as Bharat Ratna (late) Sir. M. Visvesvaraya, who have contributed in the field of water resource, infrastructure development. Since its inception, the department has grown into one of the largest and most widely respected civil engineering course and masters program in the country.
APPLIED SCIENCE ENGINEERING:
The foundation of engineering education is laid through the knowledge of basic principles of Physics, Chemistry & Biology. Engineering syllabus is incomplete without knowledge of basic science. No wonder that lot of stress is given on these subjects in engineering education. Physics, Chemistry & Biology are taught at first year B. Tech for all the branches of engineering.
INSTRUMENTATION &CONTROL ENGINEERING:
Within a short span, this department has achieved the lead position with many firsts to its credit viz. online examination package, online admission package, biomedical specialization, innovative process platform, flexible laboratory timing, round the clock internet access. The department offers under graduate course and Postgraduate courses with specialization in Process Instrumentation and Biomedical Instrumentation. The department has been awarded 5 years accreditation grade by the National Board Accreditation (NBA) New Delhi. The focus is also laid on personality development and the motto is "United We Control". This is the only department which emphasizes training in foreign languages and professional communication thus encouraging non-audit courses.The Department is also well equipped with lab facility for the academic development of the students few of them being Process lab, DSP lab, PLC lab, Biomedical lab etc.
