SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE:
The School of Architecture is a small, focused academic enterprise in a large university. We offer the advantages of a diminutive school—smaller classes, close faculty-student interaction, and an intimate atmosphere, coupled with the advantages of a great university—rich library resources, multiple course offerings, and a lovely campus. In addition, the school is located in Austin, Texas, famous for its environmental amenities and creativity. The school has outstanding students, faculty, and staff. Our 600 students are about evenly divided between graduates and undergraduates. Our faculty includes architects with innovative, leading design practice as, as well as scholars with distinguished publication and research portfolios. Our ranks of teachers are comprised of important community planners, landscape architects, interior designers, architectural historians, and specialists in historic preservation, sustainability, and urban design. Our staff helps with everything from computer facilities and the wood shop to career guidance, job placement, and alumni relations.

DEPARTMENT OF AEROSPACE ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING MECHANICS:
The Department of Aerospace Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has come a long way since granting its first degree in 1927. Space is still a destination and object of study, but it also has become the vantage point from which we investigate and improve our own planet. The Department of Aerospace Engineering pursues education and research to prepare future engineers for this task - from mapping deforestation and migration to tracking weather patterns and earth sensing and imaging. Additionally, aerospace engineers investigate current challenges in atmospheric flight, such as autonomous aircraft, flexible structures, more efficient propulsion with lower environmental impact and safer reentry to the earth's atmosphere from space. The department offers top-ranked graduate and undergraduate programs, interdisciplinary studies opportunities and access to very strong research centers and laboratories.Research Areas

Libraries & Museums
The University of Texas at Austin’s library system is the nation’s fifth-largest academic library and is one of the top 10 research libraries in the nation. From the Life Science Library to the Perry-Castañeda Library, the public can access more than nine million volumes within the 17 libraries on campus. The Dolph Briscoe Center for American History houses thousands of books, manuscripts, newspapers, photos and maps relating to various aspects of America’s past, including historical collections on Congress and the media and entertainment industries. Numerous special collections can be found within the campus libraries, including the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection, the Alexander Architectural Archive and the Ruth Stephan Poetry Collection.The Harry Ransom Center holdings include the world’s first photograph, the papers of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Norman Mailer and the Watergate papers of Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. The LBJ Library and Museum houses more than 40 million documents relating to the career of President Lyndon B. Johnson.
The Texas Natural Science Center conducts research, holds more than 5.7 million specimens in its collections and promotes public awareness of biological diversity through its exhibits, labs and outreach programs. The Blanton Museum of Art contains more than 17,000 works, including Old Master paintings, modern and contemporary American and Latin American Art, and a broad collection of prints and drawings.
