INTRO:
Hi guys this week I am going to introduce about the top college of Anna university and also affiliated to it( St. JOSEPH COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING). This college has its own name for its strict and excellent administration .The college is located in capital of Tamil Nadu ( chennai). Usually after anna university seats are filled ,students choose this college for their carrier since it provides excellent coaching for the b.tech students and also they provide excellent job opportunities to the students.
Students of 197.5marks to 194.5 marks can get seats in this college. And it also provides management seats for the benefit of the students . Now currently admission is going on.
Students those who are applying for the management seat should have percentage more than 70% in the 12th public examination or else their seat will be rejected and money will be given back.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

This college was started in 1994 acordance with the education policy of Tamail Nadu.this is one of the top colleges of anna university. This college was started by Dr. Jeppiar .

The Jeppiaar Educational Trust aims at imparting technical education to the aspiring youth of India. St. Joseph's College of Engineering under the aegis of Jeppiaar educational trust was instituted in the year 1994 in accordance with the general policy of government of Tamilnadu. It gives high priority to Technical Education in order to meet the growing demands of trained engineers to various industrial and development projects in Tamil nadu and the rest of India.
The Institution has been declared as a Christian Minority Institution by appropriate authorities. The Jeppiaar Educational Trust is headed by Dr.Jeppiaar, Ph.D., M.A., B.L.

THE CHAIRMAN..
Founder and Chairman of Jeppiaar Educational Trust, Chennai.

Dr.Jeppiaar M.A, B.L., Ph.D., is the Founder and Chairman of Jeppiaar Educational Trust and the Chancellor of Sathyabama University.

From being an active Politician, he is presently well known among academicians as a dedicated educationalist and philanthropist.

He is a simple man by nature, but is endowed with the great mind of a visionary in all his endeavors.

With his insatiable thirst for knowledge he has taken up and completed research leading to Ph.D. in Water resources Management at Anna University, Chennai.
He was also special envoy to the Chief Minister. He was also the secretary of the Chennai District in AIADMK party from 1972 to 1987.
His involvement in the field of Technical Education found its manifestation in the form of establishing a full-fledged institution Sathyabama Engineering College in the year 1988.

Dr.Jeppiaar was awarded the “Leadership Award for Valuable Contribution to Engineering education” by the Builder’s association of India, Southern Region, Chennai and the ‘For the sake of honour award’ by the Rotary Club of Chennai on the 28th October 2003, for the services rendered to the cause of fostering education by establishing Educational institutions.

      The unique feature of St.Joseph’s College of Engineering is the scholarship awarded to students. St.Josph’s College of Engineering offers attractive merit scholarships in order to encourage merit and to make students vie for University ranks.The Institution has instituted scholarships worth over Rs.1.36 Crore to be offered every year to meritorious students.Over 300 students are benefited from this scholarship.
      It is a monitory help to the needy and economically deserving students and a motivation to create competitive spirit among the students in academics.

      MESS FACILITIES:
      A huge mess with an area of 65,000 sqft accommodates the dining hall ,kitchen,ice cream parlour ,bakery and all other facilities. The Dining hall can accommodate about 1200 students at a time .
      Food is cooked hygienically Facility to cook rice with steam reduces the cooking time and students can get steaming hot food.Separate seating arrangements are made for boys & girls as well as vegetarians & non-vegetarians.
      Ice creams and weets are served every day for all the students.Breakfast and tea are served in front of the class room blocks
      The students who attend special classes in the evening after the regular classe,tea and snacks are served.
      All visitors to the college ,teaching and non-teaching staff take breakfast,lunch and evening snacks in the dining hall at free of cost.


      Vegetarian, Diet vegetarian and Non vegetarian food is served every day.
      Vegetarian food: Our vegetarian menu includes traditional south Indian dishes as well tasty north Indian and Chinese dishes.
      Sweets and Ice creams are on the menu every day!!
      Diet Vegetarian food: In the Diet vegetarian section we serve Nutritious soup and dishes with less salt low calorie which includes chapathis, dhal, fresh vegetables salad and rice with rasam.

      Non vegetarian section is naturally quite famous in which you find variety of dishes prepared form chicken, mutton as well as fish.
      All the six days one can enjoy Non vegetarian menu without any break.
      Hygiene plays a vital role in any such huge mess activity. We have a well maintained system to take care of the hygiene and cleanly ness of the mess.
      All the used plates are washed and dipped in boiling hot water then wiped clean with a cloth by a separate team of workers and utmost care is taken to see that things are maintained at the best possible hygiene level.

      • A 5 Day - Communication skills Enhancement Workshop was conducted from 14th to 18th.

      • January 2009 for 164 pre-final year students who are identified to be weak in communication skills.

      • Also this workshop was supported by Cognizant Technology Solution.

      Aptitude tests
      • Aptitude Assessment Tests are conducted to help the students to improve their employability and hone their behavioral skills to meet specific needs of the industry.

      • Aptitude Assessment Tests will have.

      • 5 preliminary tests - dividing the syllabus into 5 modules.

      • 5 model tests - covering all the 5 modules.

      • Tests are conducted from 7.50 to 9.30 AM in the EXAM BLOCK.

      • A chance is given for the students to speak in front of their class. This helps them lose stage fear and improve their communication skills.

      Two theatres of 3500 sq.ft. each and three conference halls of 2000 sq.ft.

      Our modernized Library has a Pentium LAN Server with 21 terminals by which issues and returns are carried out. Students and staff members can search for the books, authors, titles or subject headings with the availability of AUTOLIB software. Also, we have subscribed to MALIBNET (Madras Library Networks) and DELNET (Developing Library Networks) through which we can access the library in and around Chennai city and India.
      Each student is given 6 library books and 7 Books from Book Bank from the first year itself. From Second Semester onwards, top 10 students of each and every class, on the basis of the previous semester University Examinations mark, can avail further 6 books from the central library. We have made one hour as compulsory library hour for a class in a week which helps them to understand the necessity and utility of the library.
      Educational cassettes & VCD’s are also screened frequently in consultation with the faculty for the students during the library hours.

      Monday-Friday: 08:00 am to 08:00 pm
      Saturday & Sunday:09:00 am to 05:00 pm
