Sorry to say this also its very strict college. But having some advantages over that because it produces excellent results and good placement every year. I have collected data about the placement details of this colleges for the past 2 years. The fact is real just believe it or not lots and lots of company are company are company are coming for recruiting students. It makes students enthusiastic in their curriculum. Mostly all the students studying are get placed there. This colleges allows super dream companies also.
Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering in Mysore was established in the year 1963 under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha. It has carved a niche for itself as a premier centre for Technical Education. Sri Jayachamarajendra college of Engineering was started as one in the galaxy of Technical Colleges in the year 1963, which was inaugurated by Dr.T.M.A.Pai, who was then the Chairman of the Academy of Education, Manipal, Mysore State. It was initially commissioned as a totally private college under the auspicies of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, with the divine inspiration of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr.Sri Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru of Suttur Math.

History:
Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering was started in the year 1963, which was inaugurated by Dr. T. M. A. Pai, who was the then Chairman of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Initially it was under the auspices of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, with the inspiration of His Holiness Jagadguru Lingaikya Dr Sri Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru of Suttur Matt. Courses in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering branches were started first. In 1968 the first batch of Students as Engineering Graduates came out.
Over The Years
SJCE was the first college in Karnataka to introduce Electronics and Communication branch of engineering in the year 1968. Bachelor's degree programs in Instrumentation in the year 1978, Computer Science and Engineering during 1982, Information Science and Engineering in the year 2000, were subsequently introduced. Many Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses were also started. The college has been securing good results successively in the examinations held by both the University of Mysore and Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

Facilities:
Laboratories for under-graduate course such as Basic Material Testing Laboratory, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Laboratory, Survey Laboratory, Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory, Concrete, Highway and Building Materials Testing Laboratory, Environmental Engineering Laboratory and Geology Laboratory are fully equipped with modern equipments. In addition there is a model section having models of various Civil Engineering Structures and Building components. Some of the major items installed are equipment for non-destructive testing of concrete-PUNDIT (Ultrosonic, non-destructive testing). Profometer, Schmidt Hammer, concrete core cutter, Rock-cutting saw for testing samples from buildings, etc. A microprocessor controlled 110 tonne capacity Universal Testing Machine with stress and strain control facilities for testing of very high strength and large sized structural material is also been kept. The Structural Engineering Laboratory is equipped with loading frames, prestressing jacks, photo-elastic bench etc., Fluid Mechanics Laboratory has a Mini testing flume and Electronic analogy apparatus for flow nets. Highway Laboratory has Marshall stability testing apparatus, Ductility testing machine for Bitumen and Viscometers. Survey Laboratory is having an advanced Total Station and Electronic Digital Area-line meter with interface. Geo-Technical Engineering laboratory has Electronic sensitive Digital Balances and insitu sampling kit.
Earthquake engineering laboratory was established in 2000 from the research grant received from AICTE under R & D scheme of "Model Studies in Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering" .
The following are the major equipments procured:
• Transparent box and shaking table model
• Accelerometers and pore pressure sensors
• Large size ovens - 2 Nos.
• Data acquisition system
The research work comprises of study of behaviour of embankments, sloping ground, structure on ground under seismic loading and to propose methods, of mitigation against earthquake loading.
In the year 2000 AICTE had sanctioned a TAPTEC project on Computer Aided Design Laboratory . Under this scheme more facilities were added to the Computer Laboratory of the department.
In the year 2003, AICTE has sanctioned a MODROBS in Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory Project. Under this scheme, some facilities incorporating latest techniques are being added to the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory of the department.
The department undertakes consultancies in the area of Geo-Technical Engineering, Materials testing, Survey, Design of Structure and Building construction, non-destructive testing of building etc. The work on low cost school buildings using soil-cement bricks and low cost housing for the Zilla Parishad, Mysore has been appreciated by many organizations. The Department was entrusted with proof checking of multistoried building design and stadium designs for National Games constructions at Bangalore and Mysore. The Department has been entrusted with the restoration of Lansdown building, which is an old monumental building in Mysore city by the Mysore city corporation.
Continuing Education Programmes are being regularly conducted for officials of Karnataka PWD & Irrigation Departments in the areas of concrete testing, Mix Design, Restoration of concrete structures, RC Detailing, Reinforced soil structures, Office Automation, Computer Applications in Civil Engineering etc.

The department is equipped with a well established CAD/CAM lab consisting of 40 computers loaded with ANSYS 11 – Multi Physics for Finite Element Analysis , CNC EXSL simulation software (FANUC,FAGOR controllers) for ISO programming codes, ROBO – X programming and simulation of a Jointed Robot and CONTROL X for Automatic Control applications, Uni-Graphics NX series, Solid Works for Modeling purposes.
The Computer Integrated Manufacturing & Machine Tools Lab is equipped with a FMS- A CNC Lathe, CNC Milling Machine and an Industrial Robot and an ORAC Lathe. Short term training programmes are being held. In addition, the laboratory is equipped with a Lathe, a Milling Machine and dynamometer for carrying out experiments related to metal cutting of materials.
The Industrial Engineering Lab is equipped with a Tread Mill and Ergometer for ergonomic studies and the softwares like Proplanner and Timer Pro is used for carrying out studies on time study simulation & analysis, Line balancing, Value Stream mapping, Kaizen, Poka yoke, EBOM, MBOM analysis, Plant Layout etc. The table experiments are being carried out using the standard facilities available in the laboratory.
The Metrology Laboratory is equipped with Profile Projector, Talyrond, autocollimator, Tool Makers Microscope and other gauges and measuring instruments for carrying out various experiments relating to calibration and testing of the instruments.
The Department is associated with SJCE - Bosch Rexroth Knowledge center and is involved in training on hydraulics & Pneumatics and Robotics. Several training programmes are being conducted to the Engineering students of the college and polytechnic students of Karnataka State.
The Department is actively involved in extending research facilities and has produced one doctorate and 5 students are carrying out doctoral research in the field of Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Management, Metallurgy, Industrial Engineering and Management.

Facilities:
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has well equipped laboratories in the areas of Fibre Optics, Robotics, Surface Mounted Device handling, Digital Signal Processing Lab, Microprocessors, Power Electronics, Communication Electronics, Basic Electronics. Some of the special equipments include a 68020 Microprocessor Development System with several peripherals, inter-faces and PROM programming facility, signal analysers , micro computer systems to generate real time control, computers for process control, micro-computer based components and IC testers, storage and digital oscilloscopes, micro-wave benches, digital signal processing stations, fibre optics trainer systems, computerized signal analyzers. The department also has a well-equipped audiovisual centre, which has recording, editing and mixing facilities. Development of video packages and computer aided instruction packages in topics of current and emerging interest have been undertaken.
The department has involved itself in several continuing education programmes and training programmes for teachers and also for personnel from BEML, L&T, HCL, etc. A unique 3 months programme was organized from Hindustan Computers Ltd., in the field of Basic and Digital Electronics. Several industrial consultancy projects have been completed. To name a few, for the Central Public Health Environmental Organization, import-substitution items such as underground valve box cover locator, pipe detector and water leakage detector, have been successfully developed and tested.
Research and Development is presently being carried out in the field of Digital Signal and Image Processing, microprocessor based AC/DC drives, PC based instrumentation, robotics and speech recognition and synthesis; some of the R&D works is being jointly carried out with industries such as L & T. The Department has recently established facilities for surface mount device handling, parallel processing, PC based instrumentation and control, and training programme in UNIX every semester.
Two AICTE funded research projects in the area of Robotics and script recognition have been successfully completed by the department. Dr. Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Professor at JNNCE, Shimoga has completed the research work leading to Ph.D of Mysore University. He worked under Dr. Sudhakar Samuel, Professor and head of the department.
In the year 2003 the department has received two grants from AICTE, one for modernization and one for research in high-speed network performance analysis being investigated by Dr. C.R. Venugopal.
The department has initiated programmes for joint research with organizations in Russia, Armenia and Singapore.

The Department of Instrumentation Technology has well-equipped laboratories catering to its academic and consultancy programmes. Environmental Engineering:
The B.E. Degree in Environmental Engineering Programme of the department has been rated as grade 'A' course by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Facilities:
The Department of Environmental Engineering has been set up in the institution in order to create a broad based interdisciplinary centre of studies in the area of environmental science and technology. The regular academic programmes include 4 year B.E. (Env. Engg.) and M.Tech. (Env. Engg.). Apart from these activities, the Department is involved in sponsored R&D projects such as River Water Quality Monitoring sponsored by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and consultancy projects in the areas of Water & Wastewater treatability , Environmental Impact Assessment , Software development for environmental applications and other projects. The Department was involved in the design and development of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project assisted by the World Bank. This project has been prepared for Govt. of Karnataka and involved detailed field work with engineering design, drafting and cost estimates for 270 villages in ten districts of Karnataka. The department was also involved in "Water Quality Analysis in Rural Areas of Karnataka" for Kollegal and Periyapatna Taluk of Chamarajanagar and Mysore district respectively which was conducted for RDED, Government of Karnataka.
The Institution has also served as a Key Institution under the ITN-WATSAN Training Programme having jurisdiction of 5 states (Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu) and 2 Union Territories (Lakshadweep and Pondicherry) under the Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission programme, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

Bio–Technology:
Bio-Technology is an area dealing with the production of products useful for mankind, by utilizing organisms in a wide variety of areas. Though a multi-faceted field, it is largely driven by inputs from life sciences and engineering, and involves a complex system of technologies covering biological sciences, chemical sciences and physical/engineering sciences. Quite naturally, the study of bio technology course belongs to the thrust are of interdisciplinary studies. The course is intended to fill the vacuum in technical/engineering area that exists in bio technical applicational fields such as industry, pharmaceuticals, food processing, agriculture, environment, etc.
The Bachelor of Engineering Degree course in Bio Technology has been started at this institution in order to cater to the needs of various organizations for bio technical engineers, The students will be taught basic foundation courses such as microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, unit processes and operations, etc. This is followed by technology / engineering subjects such as design of bioreactors, genetic engineering, downstream and upstream processing, etc., and bio informatics.
Several pools of elective subjects are also offered permitting the students to select subjects in specialized areas of interest to them.

Mission of the Department:

Facilities:
The academic programmes are designed to cover the areas of plastics, rubbers and composites. Since this branch is interdisciplinary in nature, the department draws its support from experts from industries, Research Labs and IITs. Thus, the courses are aimed at training suitable, skilled, engineering personnel for industries and entrepreneurship development. The Department also acts as the head quarters for the Indian Rubber Institute (IRI), Karnataka branch and Indian Plastic Institute (I PI), Mysore Chapter.
The Polymer Science and Technology Department has well equipped laboratories. The processing laboratory is equipped with injection and blow moulding machines, single screw extruders with pipe, strand and film extrusion attachments, mixing mill, hydraulic press, pilot plant for resin production, etc. Besides this, other laboratories such as physical and organic chemistry labs, polymer synthesis, polymer characterization, polymer testing, polymer composite, rubber processing and chemical engineering laboratories are well equipped. Sophisticated testing and characterization equipments like Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Thermal Analyzer, Brooks field Viscometer, etc. are also available. The Department has recently created excellent Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) laboratory with generous funding from AICTE. Softwares such as MOLD FLOW (Modules - Flow, cool, midplane and MOL) Pro-E, Mechanical Desktop are available for teaching, research and consultancy purposes.
Activities:
The department is actively engaged in Research and Development activities as well as in testing and consultancy services. The faculty members have successfully completed many AICTE and DST sponsored research projects. On an average 4-5 papers are published in reputed journals every year by this department. Participation and organization of seminars, workshops, short-term courses, expert lectures are regularly done. This brings in a lot of expertise and experience for the benefit of students and also helps in training them for the needs of the industry.
The faculties of this department have been kept abreast of recent research in this area. Dr. G.M.Shashidara and Dr. Siddaramaiah were awarded DST - SERC Fellowships during 1998 and 1999 respectively and under this scheme, they worked at NCL Pune and CLRI Chennai respectively.
Dr. Siddaramaiah is the recipient of "Young Scientist" - 1997 award in "Chemical Science" from KAAS, Bangalore, "Sir C.V.Raman Award" for the year 1998-99 in the discipline of 'Chemical Technology, from KSCST, Bangalore, Government of Karnataka. "Conference Excellence Award" at International Conference in Plastic Waste Management and Environment" from SIIR, Delhi, and "Honorary membership from "New York Academy of Science", USA. He has to his credit more than 50 research papers published in National and International Journals and about 50-research papers presented in National and International Conferences.
Several developmental work referred by industries namely BEML, Wipro Peripherals, Vikrant Tyres Ltd., Mysore and Maxpharma, Nanjangud have been successfully executed. One of the research finding related to development of Butyl rubber compound used for making tyre-curing bladders has been applied for Indian patent (Provisional specification applied on 29.9.1999, Final specification filed on 29.9.2002).
The students have fabricated a Thermoforming machine and automatic dart impact tester for films with the financial assistance by KSCST. The Hospital Plastic Waste Management Studies taken up by a group of students was also sponsored by KSCST and this has opened up a new avenue to interact with community medicine departments of several medical colleges. Two projects sponsored by KSCST were awarded the best project of the year 1999. Recently a group of students worked on KSCST sponsored project on "Controlled Drug Delivery" in collaboration with JSS Pharmacy College, Mysore.
Achievements:
Faculty members have received many National / International awards / fellowships such as DST-SERC "Fellowships and Commonwealth - fellowships". Prestigious Commonwealth fellowship was awarded to Dr.G.M.Shashidara. Under this fellowship, he worked as visiting professor in school of Metallurgy and Materials, University of Birmingham during the period (28.10.2002 - 28.04.2003)
• AICTE has sponsored Rs.12 lakh for modernization of CAD facilities in the year 2002 - 2003.
