IIT RESERVES 49% OF THE SEAT AS FOLLOW:
Reservation of seats for OBC belonging to non-creamy layer in institutes of higher education has commenced from 2008. However, in the older 7 IITs, it is being implemented in a phased manner. In these 7 IITs, 9% reservation for OBC was introduced in 2008. It will be 18% in 2009 and from 2010 onwards full quota of 27% will be implemented. In the 6 new IITs opened in 2008 and 2 IITs to be started from 2009, full quota is allowed from the beginning.
