Established in 1949, UNSW has expanded rapidly and now has close to 40,000 students, including more than 7000 international students from over 130 different countries. The University offers more than 300 undergraduate and 600 postgraduate programs, and has developed an extensive network of alumni chapters throughout Asia.
The main UNSW campus is located on a 38-hectare site at Kensington, seven kilometres from the centre of Sydney. Other campuses are the College of Fine Arts (Paddington), UNSW@ ADFA (Canberra), and sub-campuses at Randwick and Coogee, as well as research stations around NSW.

UNSW has identified environmental sustainability as one of its strategic priorities.
 In 2007 it established the UNSW Climate Change Research Centre – bringing together more than 60 researchers from various disciplines across the University, it will be the largest centre of its kind.
 The University is also walking the talk with initiatives aimed at making the UNSW campus the greenest in Australia.
UNSW has almost 100 research, teaching program and community centres.
Its research centres foster multidisciplinary research and include national centres such as the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Research, ARC Centres of Excellence such as the Centre for Advanced Silicon Photovoltaics and Photonics, and UNSW centres such as Brain Sciences UNSW.
Also opened recently was the Lowy Centre for Cancer Research – the largest integrated cancer research institute in the Southern Hemisphere.
The University is a member of 15 Cooperative Research Centres and is affiliated with a number of prestigious medical research institutes, including the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
RANKINGS:
UNSW consistently scores highly in a range of national and international rankings.

UNSW ranked 46th worldwide on the 2010 QS World University Rankings, one of five Australian institutions to make the top 50. The annual rankings are based on six factors: academic and employer surveys, staff-student ratios, research citations and the proportion of international staff and students.
 The AGSM MBA Program was ranked as the leading full-time MBA in Australia and 32nd in the world in the Financial Times (UK) 2009 ranking of the top 100 global MBA programs. This is the tenth consecutive year the AGSM MBA Program has ranked in the top 100 MBA programs worldwide.
UNSW's accounting research was ranked first out of 1087 institutions worldwide in the June 2007 edition of the international journal Accounting and Finance.
UNSW scored highly in the 2010 Good Universities Guide, being awarded the maximum five-star rating for seven key performance indicators: including research grants, research intensivity, student-staff ratio, staff qualifications, cultural diversity, graduate starting salary and positive graduate outcomes.

According to the Graduate Destination Survey, UNSW maintained its leading position in graduate salaries with median starting salaries of more than $50,000 across all major disciplines.
FACULTIES AVAILABLE:
The University has ten faculties: Arts and Social Sciences; Built Environment; the College of Fine Arts (COFA); Commerce and Economics; Engineering; Law; Medicine; Science; the tertiary education component of the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra (Australian Capital Territory); and the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM).
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences occupies the Morven Brown and Robert Webster buildings, as well as parts of the Mathews Building, at the university's Kensington campus. It comprises twelve schools.

University College/UNSW@ADFA

University College is a campus run by UNSW at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA). ADFA is a tri-service military Academy that provides military and tertiary academic education for junior officers of the Australian Defence Force in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Australian Regular Army (ARA) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). It also provides post-graduate study for civilians, more senior ADF personnel and public servants. It is associated with the University of New South Wales, and issues its awards.
The stated purpose of ADFA is "to serve Australia by providing the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with tertiary graduates who have the foundational attributes, intellect and skills required of an officer."
UNSW@ADFA is composed of five schools:
ADFA is sited in the suburb of Campbell in Canberra, the Capital city of Australia, and is adjacent to the Royal Military College, Duntroon.

Australian Graduate School of Management

The Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) is generally regarded as one of the leading business schools in Australia and Asia, with an international reputation for management research.
The AGSM was established in 1977 by the University of New South Wales as Australia's first national school of postgraduate management studies. In January 1999, it merged with the Graduate School of Business of the University of Sydney (USyd). It is currently a school of both UNSW and USyd, however in November 2005, a decision was taken to revert the school to being wholly owned by UNSW. Details of the dissolution of the joint venture have not yet been published.
Today, the AGSM offers a full-time MBA program in Sydney, a part-time MBA program throughout Australia and in Hong Kong, a Graduate Certificate in Change Management, a Masters of Law and Management, and a range of executive education programs.

Faculty of the Built Environment

The Faculty of the Built Environment runs undergraduate programmes in the areas of Architecture, Building Construction Management, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Planning. The Faculty runs postgraduate programmes in the areas of Architecture, Construction Project Management, Real Estate/Property and Development, Sustainable Development, and Urban Development and Design.
The faculty is headquartered in the Red Centre (West Wing), a futuristic building designed by MGT Architects.

College of Fine Arts

The College of Fine Arts (COFA) is the creative arts faculty of the University of New South Wales and is located on Oxford Street, Paddington, Sydney, Australia. The College consists of the following five schools:
The College also runs courses via its online education program, COFA Online.
The above academic units are supported by various administration staff including a large technical support staff that helps maintain the various art, design and digital media disciplines undertaken at the College. The Paddington campus houses the Clement Semmler Library, which maintains a large collection of art and design literature, journals, periodicals and electronic resources. Also on site is The Ivan Dougherty Gallery, which has a regular schedule of exhibitions and seminars throughout the year, focusing on both student and professional work.
Students at the College are represented by the College of Fine Arts Students' Association.

Faculty of Commerce and Economics

The Faculty of Commerce and Economics is one of the largest business faculties in the world and has over 8,000 students. There are approximately 4,500 undergraduate students, 3,500 postgraduate students students and 250 PhD and Honours students with an almost equal mix of women and men. 30-40% are international students. The faculty has 220 full-time academics and researchers.
The faculty is composed of eight Schools, including: Accounting; Actuarial Studies; Banking & Finance; Business Law & Taxation; Economics; Information Systems, Technology & Management; Organisation and Management and Marketing.

Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering is the largest in Australia, offering the widest range of engineering programmes. It is easily the largest faculty in the university, with 9000 students enrolled (2006). It was recently voted the number one engineering faculty in Australia (16th in the world) by the 2005 Times Higher Education Supplement World University Ranking. The Faculty comprises ten schools:
School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering (formerly known as the School of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry)
School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (formerly the Centre for Photovoltaic Engineering)
Students of the faculty are involved in a number of high-profile projects: the Sunswift Solar Car (second place in the recent Sunrace from Adelaide to Sydney), the rUNSWift RoboCup team (World Champions), the Formula SAE-A Racing Car (National winners in 2000) and the BlueSat Satellite (2003).
UNSW Centre for Photovoltaic Engineering currently holds the world record for single-crystalline silicon solar cell efficiency (24.7%). It is one of the leading solar cell research centres in the world with ongoing active research in the area of wafer-based solar cell technologies, thin film cell technologies and advanced third-generation cell concepts.
The Centre for Advanced Macromolecular Design is one of Australia's leading polymer institutes with research in all facets of macromolecular design and applications.

Faculty of Law

The UNSW Faculty of Law is comprised of the School of Law, the Australian School of Taxation (Atax), the Kingsford Legal Centre (a community legal centre), a centre for continuing legal education, and 12 affiliated research and specialist legal centres. Currently the Faculty teaches approximately 2400 law students and 1400 tax students.The Faculty has a long standing relationship with law firm Freehills, where the firm sponsors the Faculty's law library and pays for return business-class plane tickets and a stipend for academics and their spouses visiting the Faculty Law faculties practise dressing for success to attract donations, Financial Review, 20th May 2005 .
Today, the Faculty is recognised as one of the top law schools in Australia, and distinguishes itself from other Australian legal education bodies for its small and interactive classes. In the past six years, five UNSW law students have won prestigious Rhodes Scholarships. In 1985 the UNSW Law School was one of 13 tertiary law institutions to undergo review/assessment by a committee of the Commonwealth Tertiary Education Commission. In addition to its formal recognition in regard to its breadth of legal education, the committee's convenor, Professor Dennis Pearce, described UNSW Law as "the best law school in the country".
According to 2006 Good Universities Guide, average graduate starting salary is $48000, ranking top among Australian Law Schools.
In Winter 2006, the faculty moved to a new building at lower campus.

CAMPUS:

UNSW, located in the eastern suburbs, is just minutes away from the city and is easily accessible from Central Station and other major transportation hubs located throughout Sydney.
Once on campus, to help navigate yourself around, campus tours are available and run on a weekly basis.
KENSINGTON CAMPUS:
The main UNSW campus is located on a 38 hectare site at Kensington. With nearly 1,700 UNSW Express Bus services per week, coupled with several other bus and train services available, the UNSW Kensington Campus is easy to get to via public transport no matter where you’re travelling from.

COFA CAMPUS:
The COFA Campus is located in the heart of Paddington and is within walking distance of major train stations and bus services. It is extremely well-serviced by public transport and is connected to Kensington Campus via regularly scheduled free shuttle services.
FACILITIES PROVIDED:
UNSW Lowy Cancer Research Centre is a facility at The University of New South Wales. It is Australia's first facility bringing together researchers in childhood and adult cancers, and one of the country's largest cancer research facilities, housing up to 400 researchers.
The Analytical Centre is a high-grade centre for the Faculties of Science, Medicine and Engineering. It is used to study the structure and composition of biological, chemical and physical materials.
