ABOUT SGSITS :
Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore established as a tiny Institute has grown into a leading technological Institution in the state of Madhya Pradesh but also the entire central and Western Regions of the country in a span of 35 years.
Considering the quality of the manpower generated by the Institute, a high power committee of the government of India has ranked it 16th in the country including IITs and NITs.
While recognizing its academic achievements, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and University grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi granted the status of an Autonomous Institution in 1989.
Under this status, the Institute conducts its own examinations at both UG and PG levels and frames its own syllabii with a flexibility to update them as and when required to keep pace with the latest technological and scientific developments.
All the major UG and PG programmes have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation of AICTE.
The Institute is a nationally recognized center for carrying out research leading to Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Applied Science and Pharmacy. The Ministry of HRD of Govt. of India has identified the Civil Engg.
The laboratories in all the various departments have been modernized with an aid of approx. Rs3.0 crores from Govt. of India and World Bank.
The Institute is involved in Continuing Education Programme and also provides Testing and Consultancy services.
The Institute has successfully completed a large number of sponsored Research Projects. Funded by UGC, AICTE, DST, DAE, CSIR etc.
The Institute also supports IGNOU, New Delhi for its technical courses.
The valedictory function of the Golden Jubilee Celebration was attended by the then President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on Dec. 23, 2002. in also recognized centre for National Dectoral Fellowship (NDF) Scheme of AICTE
OUR TEAMS VIEW ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS), Indore is Grant-in-aid largest technological Institute of Madhya Pradesh affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya,Bhopal (University of Technology of Madhya Pradesh).
SGSITS is imparting technical education at UG, PG and Ph.D. levels and most preferred by the students in MP after IITs and a few NITs in the country for UG level admissions.
After successful implementation of academic autonomy for 20 years, the time is most opportune to be Deemed-to-be- University offering cutting edge technology programmes at UG, PG and Ph.D. levels.
At present, the institute offers 10-Undergraduate and 17 Post Graduate courses with an annual intake of 660 and 375 students respectively including Master’s Degree in Applied Sciences and Pharmacy.
M.C.A. course with annual intake 60 students is being offered since 2000-2001. The institute runs 5 Part Time degree courses with intake of 30 students in each.
The Institute is a nationally recognized center for carrying out research leading to Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Applied Science and Pharmacy.
The Ministry of HRD of Govt. of India has identified the Civil Engg. Department of the Institute as a Center for Quality Improvement (QIP) for Ph.D. degree and Electrical Engg. Department for M.E. degree. More departments will have this recognition shortly.
The Institute is does recognized centre for National Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) scheme of AICTE. A large no. of its Alumni have acquired top positions in National & International organizations & serving the society for its continuous betterment
The Institute has well-qualified and experienced faculty of sanctioned strength of more than 50% of strength of more than the fan----- hold doctoral degrees. Almost quite a few of them have received prestigious awards. The faculty and the students of the institute publish more than 100 research papers every year.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING:
The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engg. was established in 1972 .
It offers Under Graduate course (B.E.) in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and a Post Graduate course (M.E.) with special emphasis on Telecommunication networks since 2003.
The UG course has been AICTE accrediated in 2003. The department is equipped with the state-of-art equipments and has well developed laboratories in the related fields.
The department has its own LAN with Novel Netware, Windows-NT and Linux servers (and is connected to the Institute LAN which has radio link with CAT for internet access).
The department was selected for project IMPACT, supported by World Bank, Swiss Dev. Corporation (SDC) and Department Of Electronics (now named as Ministry of Information Technology ) Government of India, during 1991 to 1996.
The project was aimed at enhancing educational facilities to provide quality technical man power. Laboratory equipments and educational material worth Rs. 75 lacs were provided under this project .
The department also participated in IMPACT-SSS project of MIT, Govt. of India during 1997 to 2002.
The Department has been awarded ISO-9001:1994 certificatification in December 2000 jointly with the Department of Computer Engg. and Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engg. of the Institute. The department has been accreditated by AICTE in 2004.
The department has been receiving grants from various Government agencies for upgradation and modernization of the laboratories.
The department has R&D in the field of modeling and analysis of high speed local area networks, telecommunication switching systems, digital signal processing, optical communication, embedded system etc.
Many students and faculty members of the department have received Young Scientist and other prestigious awards .
Many alumni of the department have pursued M.Tech. and Ph.D. studies in various IITs and abroad after securing high percentile in GATE & GRE.
DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL AND PRODUCTION ENGINEERING:
Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, is today one of largest department of the institute.
The department is equipped with learned faculty and modern facilities.
The department has a well-equipped central workshop that imparts basic training in various manufacturing processes.
The department is also equipped with modern laboratories of CAD/CAE, FMS, Industrial Inspection, Industrial Engineering, Quantitative Techniques and, Metal Cutting and Machine Tools.
Faculty members have published more than 50 papers in the last three years, and have authored number of books, which are popular in many engineering curriculum across the country.
Recently department has organised a two day National Workshop on “Product Lifecycle Engineering and Management” on 12-13 September 2007.
BIO-MEDICAL DEPARTMENT:
Today the developments in technologies especially Electronics, Communication, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering and Information Technology have led to improved diagnosis and therapy.
Biomedical instruments are being developed which assist the medico person in imparting quick, accurate and reliable diagnosis and therapy.
Biomedical Engineering deals with the application of electronic, pneumatic and mechanical instruments that are used in medical science applications.
The bachelors course on Biomedical Engineering in this Institute has started in the year of 2002 with an intake of 60 students.
This course covers the Electronics and Instrumentation aspects of medical instruments required for health care.
The theory of signal processing applied to medical science such as, image processing, digital signal processing, network analysis, etc. is also a part of academic curriculum in this course.
This course also imparts training to the students for overall design, maintenance and installation of medical instruments in a hospital or a medical R&D centre.
This course aims to strengthen the manpower in the area of Biomedical Engineering.
Thus, this forms a bridge between Engineering and Medical streams for research & development and also the regular practices.
SCOPE:
The dependency on medical instruments has given rise to changes in electrical safety test and measurement of accuracy and calibration of medical instrument itself.
A biomedical engineer is equally sharing the responsibility of health care along with doctors and paramedical staff.
This demands a well trained and directionally educated Biomedical Engineer.
Unlike other engineering fields the advancement in Biomedical Engineering is more challenging.
A biomedical Engineer is useful to the society in following manner:
As an engineer in medical hospital to maintain, train, monitor instruments and if necessary deduce diagnosis (at elementary level).
As a development engineer in preparing up a proto-type instrument.
As a R&D engineer in medical sciences.
As a development engineer to set up an instrumental patient monitoring system.
TRAINING AND PLACEMENT DETAILS:
Training and Placement Cell in the Institute plays a vital role and is becoming a key department of the Institute.
As there are many more Engineering Colleges coming up in Madhya Pradesh, the competition for employment is increasing every day and the job of placement is becoming a challenging one.
The Training and Placement Office has come in its inception since quite a long and is performing the following activities:-
• Arranging inplant training for students and
• Inviting various organizations for campus recruitment.
For placement a large number of prospective employers are contacted during the year and the number of companies visiting regularly this Institute are increasing every year which has reached to around 25-30 by now.
The objective of the T&P Cell is to look for a 100% employment of all the students therefore it follows policy of ' One Person One Job '. A candidate selected for one job is further restricted to other recruitment.
To help the students first the best possible job, the students may be permitted by the TPO to obtain more than one offer during the 'Day-Zeros' that are generally organized for a limited duration at the begining of the placement for any batch (in June).

CENTRAL LIBRARY:
The Central Library was established in 1955 with a small collection of 429 books.
Currently it earns the status of the biggest college library in central India in the field of technology and science education.
It is full flagged with good quality of high cost standard reference and text - books, world reputed International and National research journals, theses, project reports, audio/visual and electronic learning resources in all disciplines of technical education.
It also contains the literature of social sciences and humanities.
The central library has separate three-floor building with the floor area of 2037 Sq.
Meters. It has six major separate sections for Administrative and Circulation operations, Textbooks collection, Book-Bank collection, Reference collection, Journals, Theses and Reports Collection and Computer section for digital resources.
