ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY:

  The University formerly known as Bhopal University was established in 1970 in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh.
In 1988, it was rechristened as the Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya, in the living memory of the great freedom fighter, Prof. Barkatullah belongs to Bhopal.
The University Institute of Technology, (UIT) Barkatullah University, Bhopal (Formerly called Bhopal University ) is a self financing technical institute, established in August 1997 with the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education in concurrence with the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
The ever increasing demand for engineering education and the financial limitations of the state has resulted in the need for the establishment of self financing technical institutions in the state.
With the sponsorship of Barkatullah University and with the collaboration of the industries of this region, this new institution is expected to become a leader among the self financing institutions of the country.
The University complex includes Administrative Block, Library Block, Life sciences Block, Law Block, Humanities Block, social science Block, Physics Block, Applied Geology Block, Hostel Building, Guest House, Institute of Open and Distance Education, Post office, a branch of the State Bank of India, Printing press, faculty club, Institute of Management Building, Department of Pharmacy and University Institute of Technology.
The territorial jurisdiction of the university extends to the eight districts of Bhopal, Sehore , Vidisha , Raisen , Hoshangabad, Harda , Betul, and Rajgrah.
There are more than one hundred seventy colleges affiliated to the University.
There is one Engineering college two college of education, a Technical Teachers Training Institute, a Ayurvedic , Unani, Physiotherapy and homeopathic college affiliated to this University.
The University covers almost a total spectrum of higher education, offering courses in its affiliated colleges and the teaching departments in the faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Life Science, Home Science, Medicine, Commerce and Business Management, Law, Engineering, Education and Technical Education.
The Chakravarty Rajagopalachari Institute of Management (CRIM) provides full-time course in Business Management and the Institute of Open and Distance Learning, the only Institute of its kind in the State, provides undergraduate and diploma courses through correspondence.
The major emphasis of the University teaching departments is on interdisciplinary teaching and research.
These teaching departments follow the annual semester system of teaching and examination, and make provision for such postgraduate courses, which are by and large, not provided a grant to establish a Women's Studies Centre in the Department of Sociology and have provided Special Assistance to departments of Microbiology and Physics under the SAP and COSIST.

INSTRUCTION MODE:


The teaching method adopted for the programme are such as to promote multidisciplinary inquiry and practical applications of problems.

ADMISSION TO THE INSTITUTE:
Admission to the students is given in I semester by the D.T.E. through counseling based on their merit in the PET conducted by V.P. Mandal, Madhya Pradesh and their Preference.
Admission is open for all the Indian nationals and PET centers are located outside the state also. In the event of the PET merit list of eligible candidates Getting exhausted, the D.T.E may announce admission based on 10+2 marks.
Reservation to the extent of 5% of seats each are granted to S.C., S.T. and O.B.C. candidates. 5% of the seats are available for NRI or NRI sponsored candidates.
Reservation of seats is also available for female candidates in each category as per Govt. of M.P. rules.
LOCATION:
AMBIENCE:
Bhopal, the city of lakes and the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is centrally situated and is well connected by rail, road and air with all other important cities of the country.
It is at an altitude of 550 m above sea level. The climate is moderate, with temperature ranging from 20°C to 35°C during the major part of the year and is extreme weather ranging from 10°C to 45°C.

CAMPUS AND THE COLLEGE :
The college is located on the Barkatullah University campus in the midst of the imposing buildings of other faculties and the sylvan surroundings.
The Barkatullah University has made available 30 acres of land for the UIT campus.
The University has also provided infrastructural facilities which include a new college building with a floor area of 4763 sqm and other facilities of the University such as the Sports & Games fields, Hostels, Guest House, and Cultural Hall.
Banking And Post office facilities are also available on the University campus.
Additional Institutional Building of 3726 sqm (floor area) for creating state of art laboratory facilities are planned to be constructed soon.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:


Information Technology, which is a continuously evolving field, demands committed professionals to perform their best.
Considering the scope for a successful professional career, the department provides world class Network Infrastructure, modernized classrooms equipped with LCD projectors, powerful Pentium4 computers equipped laboratories and all the latest software and tools.
An ultra modern lecture halls equipped with video projection systems and computer caters for conventional as well as e-learning needs of the student.
The ambience and the ergonomic design of the labs enhance students' appetite for acquiring programming skills.

ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING :
The Department OF Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering has strong administration, infrastructure and dedicated team of Faculty.

The department is keeping pace with the fast changing technology of electronics and communication in terms of its teaching program and laboratory activities.

In addition to core electronic subjects, software based subjects are also included in the syllabus which makes this course suitable for core electronics and many IT industries.
The department has well equipped labs with many sophisticated equipment such as HP Spectrum Analyzer, Tektronix FFT cum DSO, L&T Logic Analyzer etc.
To cater for computing requirement, department has networked computer lab with IBM Think Centre PIV PCs, a Higher End Server with Intel Xeon Processor.

FACILITES AVAILABLE:
HOSTEL FACILITY:
The institute believes that hostels help to develop group dynamics amongst student and widen their socio-cultural horizon as well.
Keeping this in mind, the University Institute of Technology has made provision for excellent hostel facilities (separate for boys and girls) for desirous student.
These facilities are in fact, provided by the University itself.
In addition, all students are made available prompt medical aid through the University dispensary.
The university provides excellent play fields, gymnasium and cultural hall for sports and extra curricular activities for fuller development of the students personality.

LIBRARY FACILITIES:


The Library was established in 1972 at Gandhi Bhawan and in 1979 it was shifted to the Campus.
At present, the library contains 71259 books, 5703 thesis and 60 sanskrit MSS presented by Shri Ish Narayan Joshi.
It has a collection of rare reference books on Bio-Science, Microbiology, Linguistics Sociology and Economics.
Most of the reference and rare books in the Sociology section, valued at approximately Rs. 5Laks, have been donated by the former Vice Chancellor Prof. I. S. Chouhan.
It has approx 80 borrowers. The Library has an inter Library Loan Facility which enables borrowing and lending books/theisis to and from other university libraries.
Prof. In charge is Dr. Arvind Chouhan and the Asst. Librarian is Dr. Ashok Aedlabadkar.

HEALTH SERVICES:
Medical aid is available to all the students of the college as and when required through the University Dispensary.
Besides it is desirable for each student on the rolls of the college to present himself for a medical examination before the University Medical Officer for a periodical check up on such dates as may be fixed by the Medical Officer.
Cases which deserve special attention are referred by the University Medical Officer to specialists in the local Government Hospitals.

BANKING AND POSTAL SERVICES:
There is a branch of State Bank of India and a Post Office in the University campus. Students are advised to have savings account either at the Bank or at the Post Office.

In partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of B.E. Degree, each student has to undergo eight weeks practical training in industries.
The training is arranged in two parts viz. one at the end of IV Semester and the other at the end of VI Semester (during Summer vacation).
