This is one of the top college in chennai which has been rank 3 for the mechanical engineering.Now presently the admiossin is going of engineering seats. We can also go through anna university since it is affilated to anna university. In 2009 year this college was filled within 2 days of the anna university counselling . So my request to the viewers if you get a chance to get seat please choose mechanical engineering. The cut off marks for this college is from 190 to 195 through anna univerasity. This college was Established in the year 1995, R.M.K. Engineering College is situated in a picturesque environment at Kavaraipettai, Gummidipoondi Taluk at a distance of 30 km from Chennai Tamil Nadu.The College is managed by Lakshmikanthammal Education Trust.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure of this college is very good with excellent lab facilities for all. The college is located out of the city so it is free from all soughts of pollution too. The college is having very good alumni background whom are placed in various Multinational companies. I am sure that if you are good in your academics and also in extra curricular activities you can surely get a job.

Spread across 125 acres of lush green environment, the college has got excellent infrastructure facilities as is evident including adequate Classrooms and seminar halls for respective departments. The main Block named after Shri. Rajendra Naidu, has three floors, with a built up area of 2850 sq.m. It accommodates well-ventilated, spacious classrooms and drawing halls. Apart from physics, chemistry labs, an auditorium with a capacity of 300 seats and an administrative office are also part of this Block with a ATM facility.

Swaminatha Naidu Block, with a build up area of 2800 sq.m, Vijayaragavulu Naidu Block with 2600 sq.m and Ramanujalu Naidu Block with 2650 sq.m are the major Blocks which houses adequate classrooms for Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering classrooms and laboratories. The New Block with 2530 sq.m houses Electrical & Electronics and Electronics & Instrumentation classrooms and laboratories.

RMK Engineering College has maintained a modern and practical approach in education and training to meet the demands of the rapidly changing global environments. The College has individual seminar halls for all the respective departments to hold seminars, presentations and conventions.

Library:

RMKEC has a Library and Information center facilitating the students with the latest developments in Systems, Technology and International Standards Resources. The ultra modern library is located in Swaminatha Naidu block. Professional librarians are available to help the students and staff with their information needs.

Housed in an area of 900 sq.m, the college library has 30,176 books in 9,674 titles. Moreover, the library is facilitated with 73 National and 59 International journals. The library and information center has a separate reading and reference room to help the students. The College has proposed to establish a Language Training & Research Center at a cost of 10 lakhs

Sports Complex:

Swami Vivekananda mentioned that playing sports is also a form of meditation. Sports require high level of concentration. It helps to keep fit and create a fire within to succeed. Upon all these things, it develops a sportive spirit in the personality, which helps him to lead his life in a great way.

The college has specially laid an excellent 400 m athletic track to facilitate students to practice and take part in state level events. A Cricket ground, Basketball, Volleyball and Tennis courts are made available for development in outdoor games.

Hostel:

RMKEC has comprehensive hostel facilities for the students. Three blocks for men and two blocks for womenhave been arranged, in all accommodating more than 1000 students.

The BOYS' HOSTEL-1 with 3020 sq.m has 96 rooms spread over three floors and accomodatates about 320 students of second year. The BOY'S HOSTEL-2 with 2810 sq.m has 72 rooms and accommodates 200 students of 5third and final year of B.E/ B.TECH and MCA. The BOY'S HOSTEL-3 with 3000 sq.m has 96 rooms spread over three floors and accomodatoin about 250 students of first year.

The GIRLS' HOSTEL-1 with 1330 sq.m has 36 rooms and accommodates 120 students. The GIRLS HOSTEL-2 with 900 sq.m has about 20 rooms and accommodates 120 students. A separate dining hall covering 200 sq.m to accommodate 100 students at a time is also available in this block. The GIRLS' HOSTEL-3 with 2800 sq.m has more than 50 rooms with a study hall.

Health Care: Physical fitness has been given utmost importance . The college hostel is equipped with the latest state of the air-conditioned gymnasium with the latest state of the art equipments especially for men.Moreover the Boys Hostel is annexed with full-fledged air-conditioned Hair cutting Saloon.

A separate gymnasium for women is also annexed with the Girls Hostel.The girls Hostel has a full-fledged air conditioned Beauty Parlor attached to it.

A clinic with a few beds along with qualified general physicians to take care of the health requirements of the Hostel students is also made available.

Placement

The Department of Training and Placement interacts with reputed organizations all over the country for arranging campus interviews for the placement of final year students. It makes efforts to send most of the students for in-plant training to enhance their technical ability and gain exposure to the practical world.

Industrial visits to reputed companies are arranged to know more details about industrial activities. It also enhances the soft-skill capability of the students through regular training programs. The department counsels the final year students for their higher studies and for getting projects from indusries.
